SUMMARY:Endorsed Course: Basic Ultrasonography in Otolaryngology
DESCRIPTION:ULTRASONOGRAPHY IN OTOLARYNGOLOGY\n\nDate: Saturday, 26.09.26\nVenue:\nSt. Luke’s Hospital\nPanorama\n55236, Thessaloniki\nParticipation fee: €500\nMaximum number of participants: 15\nFaculty: Prof Konstantinos Mantsopoulos, Otorhinolaryngologist\nTarget level of education: Advanced\nOverview of the course\nHead and neck ultrasonography has become an increasingly important diagnostic tool in modern daily otolaryngology practice, offering a safe, painless, non-invasive, and cost-effective method for evaluating a particularly wide range of conditions. It is considered a first-line examination for investigating pathologies of the salivary glands, thyroid and parathyroid glands, cervical lymph nodes, as well as the soft tissues of the neck.\nThe ability to obtain immediate, dynamic, and repeatable real-time imaging allows for the timely diagnosis of inflammatory, obstructive, and neoplastic conditions, significantly contributing to accurate treatment planning and patient follow-up.\nThis seminar aims not only to teach the fundamental principles of head and neck ultrasonography but also to provide hands-on experience with the most clinically relevant sonographic findings in otolaryngology. Emphasis is placed on the systematic conduct of the examination, correct scanning technique, recognition of normal and pathological images, and correlating imaging findings with clinical history and physical examination.\nLearning Objectives\n– Understanding of the fundamental physics of ultrasonography\n– Image optimization and operation, adjustment of ultrasound equipment\n– Understanding of advanced cross sectional area ultrasound anatomy of the thyroid and salivary glands, lymph nodes and soft tissues if the neck.\n– Identification of the normal appearance (cross sectional area, echogenicity) of thyroid and salivary glands, lymph nodes\n– Identification of anatomical landmarks and positions used for spatial guidance\n– Acquisition of all the necessary skills in order to perform ultrasound in otolaryngology efficiently\n– Interpretation of normal/pathological findings in everyday clinical scenarios.\n \nRegister here for this course: https://scientiaedu.gr/en/shop/teachers/konstantinos-mantsopoulos/basic-ultrasonography-in-otolaryngology/ ( https://scientiaedu.gr/en/shop/teachers/konstantinos-mantsopoulos/basic-ultrasonography-in-otolaryngology/ )\nView Scientific Programme Here >\nSyllabus & Course Notes >\nPrevious Course Reviews > ( https://efsumb.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Evaluation-forms-23.05.2026.pdf )\n \n
