Dr M Franca Meloni is an interventional radiologist at the Casa di Cura IGEA, Milano Italy. Her research interests include ablation therapies in liver and kidney cancers and the use of contrast-enhanced ultrasound. Her skills and activities are diagnostic and interventional ultrasound, contrast-enhanced ultrasound; ablative therapies including radiofrequency, microwaves, alcoholization. Head and Coordinator of the Advanced School of Ultrasound in Interventional Procedures, since 2005, and Head and Coordinator of the Monothematic Advanced School of Ultrasound with Contrast Medium (CEUS) since 2020, and Basic School of General Ultrasound both of the Italian Society of Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (SIUMB ). She organizes ultrasound training programs in Italy and in developing countries (Tunisia, Morocco, Congo, Tanzania, South Sudan, Kenya). For her commitment in developing countries in 2013 the President of the Republic awarded her the honor of "Official" of merit of the Italian Republic.

She was appointed Secretary General of the Mediterranean and African Society of Ultrasound (MASU) from 2004 to 2010.
She was a member of the SIUMB Board of Directors from 2007 to 2011.
She was councilor of the Ultrasound Section of SIRM from 2017 to 2022
She was a clinical Adjunct Professor in the Department of Radiology, University of Pavia, (Italy) from 2003 to 2020
She is a Clinical Adjunct Professor at the University of Wisconsin, School of Medicine and Public Health (USA). Since 2014 at present
She is the fifth in the world ranking of the authors of the 100 articles of international radiology from 1945 to 2012 with the highest number of citations in the world radiological literature (AJR 2013, 201: 471-481).
