PRESIDENT ELECT
Adrian Lim , MD FRCP FRCR
Professor and Consultant Radiologist
Imperial College London and Healthcare NHS Trust
I am the head of ultrasound at Charing Cross Hospital, London and have an interest in advancing technologies of ultrasound and novel techniques in functionally assessing disease processes. I am committed to research and education with a track record of over 20 years, especially in clinical trials and promoting ultrasound to the wider medical community which will help advance this discipline. The EFSUMB “family” is paramount to achieving this goal and thus I have served as Chair and member of the Publications Committee as well as the Case of the Month editor for 4 years (2017-2021). Subsequently, I have been a co-opted member on the Executive Board of EFSUMB for the last 4 years.
My dedication to the field of clinical ultrasound is also evident as an active member of the European Society of Radiology where I served on the ultrasound subcommittee (2022-2024) and am the organizer of the Advanced Ultrasound Workshops for the annual European Congress of Radiology 2025 and 2026.
I am also currently an editor for our societies’ journals, the European Journal of Ultrasound and Ultrasound International Open, as well having been an associate editor of WFUMB’s journal, Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (2021-2024) as well as the journal of clinical radiology. I have published over 150 peer-reviewed papers and book chapters culminating in a textbook on Liver Ultrasound published last year. In addition, I have served in numerous officer roles within the British Medical Ultrasound Society where I was President from 2022-2024.
It is thus an honour and privilege to be elected as the President Elect of EFSUMB. It will allow me to continue the excellent achievements and enthusiasm of my predecessors for advancing the field of medical ultrasound, disseminating education and widening the circle of the ever-growing “ultrasound” family.
