MEMBER – Roxana Sirli

Roxana Șirli, MD, PhD, Dr. Habil

She is Professor of Gastroenterology, Head of the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology of the “Victor Babeș” University of Medicine and Pharmacy Timișoara, Romania. She is a senior attendant in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine, working in the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Department of the “Victor Babeș” University of Medicine and Pharmacy Timișoara.

She is an expert in general ultrasonography (level III) according to the multilevel classification of SRUMB, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Romanian Society of Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (SRUMB). From 2021 she is Chair of the Student Education Task Force of WFUMB. She is a member of the WFUMB COE Timișoara, also a faculty member of the Ultrasound Learning Center of UMF Timișoara (since 2001), which is also an EFSUMB Learning Center. She participated as invited speaker to multiple courses and scientific sessions in Romania and abroad, mainly in gastroenterology and ultrasound.

She is author and co-author of 210 original papers published in medical journals (158 of them in ISI Journals), with a Hirsch index of 35. She is author and co-author of 27 medical books. Among them “Hepatic Elastography Using Ultrasound Waves - Revised Edition of Volume 1”, Bentham Science Publishers 2016 - awarded with the “Daniel Danilopolu” Award of the Romanian Academy. She is one of the editors of the “WFUMB Ultrasound Book”, published by WFUMB in 2021. She is the author and co-author of 28 chapters in medical books, author and co-author of 6 educational ultrasound CDs and DVDs. Her main interest areas are abdominal ultrasound, liver elastography, portal hypertension, chronic liver diseases.
